How It Works

01
📸

Capture or Upload

Use your device camera to capture evidence or content that you want in real time, and you can also upload an existing document file in various formats (e.g. .docx, .pdf, etc.). GPS coordinates, device metadata, and a precise timestamp are captured after you grant permission and locked to the file's digital fingerprint known as a hash.

02
🔐

Hash, Encrypt & Anchor

Your file is SHA-256 hashed and AES-256 encrypted locally in your browser — it never leaves your device. A one-time payment anchors the hash permanently into a Bitcoin OP_RETURN transaction on mainnet. The record is immutable from this moment forward.

03
🔍

Retrieve & Prove

Retrieve your notarized evidence at any time by searching with the file hash or Bitcoin transaction ID. Anyone can independently verify the timestamp on any public blockchain explorer — no account, no platform dependency, no trust required.

Everything you need. Nothing you don't.

Client-Side Encryption

Your file is hashed and encrypted with AES-256-GCM directly in your browser using a PIN only you know. The server never sees your file, your PIN, or your plaintext data — only the encrypted output.

📍

Tamper-Evident Metadata

GPS coordinates, device information, and a precise UTC timestamp are captured at the moment of creation and locked into the evidence record. Metadata is embedded immutably on-chain — it cannot be altered after notarization.

Bitcoin OP_RETURN Anchoring

Your SHA-256 hash is written into a Bitcoin OP_RETURN output — the most widely recognised and independently verifiable form of blockchain timestamping. Verifiable on any public explorer: Mempool.space, Blockstream, or Blockchair.

👤

No Account Required

StampHash operates without registration, email addresses, or user profiles. Notarizations are pseudonymous by design. You hold the only key to your encrypted evidence — we cannot access it even if compelled.

🔎

Instant Verification

Verify any stamped file by uploading it and comparing its computed hash against the on-chain record. Works with the original file and any copy. Proof is public, permanent, and requires no StampHash infrastructure to validate.

🌐

Testnet Mode

Practice the full workflow at zero cost using Bitcoin Testnet. Identical process to mainnet — hash, encrypt, anchor, verify — with no real Bitcoin required. Ideal for legal teams, journalists, and developers evaluating the platform.

Built for Every Use Case

⚖️

Legal Professionals

Establish irrefutable proof of when evidence existed. Attorneys, paralegals, and investigators use StampHash to timestamp incident photos, preserve contract drafts before negotiation, document chains of custody, and capture witness statements before they can be disputed. The Bitcoin timestamp is independently verifiable by opposing counsel, courts, and forensic experts — without relying on any third-party certificate authority.

  • Pre-litigation evidence preservation
  • Contract version timestamping
  • Incident scene documentation
  • Chain of custody records
📰

Journalists & Investigators

Prove you had the story, the footage, or the documents first. In an era of contested footage and fabricated evidence, StampHash gives journalists an immutable receipt for every piece of source material. Use it to protect anonymous sources by proving document authenticity without revealing origin, or to establish the timeline of an investigation before publication.

  • Scoop and publication priority proof
  • Source document authentication
  • Field footage timestamping
  • Pre-publication evidence archival
🎨

Creators & Individuals

Protect your work and your word. Artists, designers, writers, and developers use StampHash to stake a claim on original work before it goes public. It's also valuable for individuals documenting property damage, harassment, neighbour disputes, or any situation where the date and integrity of evidence may later be challenged.

  • Intellectual property and copyright protection
  • Property and insurance documentation
  • Personal agreement and will timestamping
  • Dispute evidence preservation

Privacy-first by design.

🔐 Encrypted at rest: Your evidence file was encrypted with your PIN before leaving your device. The server stores only the ciphertext — only you can decrypt it. Keep your PIN safe; it is not stored anywhere and cannot be recovered.
